This History of BWP

The story of our studio began in the early 1960s with something as simple — as a favor for a neighbor. My mother convinced my father to photograph their wedding. At the time, he wasn’t a photographer at all. He was a cable splicer for Southern Bell, working long hours and climbing telephone poles, without considering f-stops or shutter speeds.

But that one wedding changed everything.

The hired photographer that day, a gentleman named Jack, later contacted my father because of a supposed film or lab issue. Whether that was true or simply Jack’s way of connecting, we’ll never know — but it opened a door. Jack worked at a mall studio and offered my father an internship, giving him his first real foundation in the craft.

That internship lit the spark.
The photography bug bit hard… and never let go.

On February 1, 1966, my father officially opened the doors to our family studio. What began as a one-time favor became a lifelong calling, a legacy, and today — six decades later — a business that has served hundreds of thousands of families, seniors, schools, and our Central Florida community.

Sixty years is no small milestone. It’s a testament to God’s grace, my parents’ resilience, and the trust of the families who welcomed us into their lives.

A Special Part of Our 60-Year Celebration

As we celebrate our 60th year, we also honor my father’s eternal home, reached on February 6th, 2018.
He was a man of character — a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. He is deeply missed.

Well done, good and faithful servant… until we meet again.

This legacy exists because of him, and it continues because of the values he lived every single day.
